I tried Kinton's syrah last night at the GenArt after-party at Retreat, and it is excellent! Generally I'm disappointed by the wines offered "for free" at such events, so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Kinton's syrah. Well done and thanks for sponsoring the GenArt Film Festival!
The Wine Advocate 90 points:A sleeper of the vintage, the 2005 Syrah reveals blacker fruits than the 2004, more pepper, creme de cassis, pine forest, and underbrush characteristics in its full-bodied, deep style. With good underlying acidity and ripe tannin, it should evolve nicely for 5-7 years. Score: 90. —Robert Parker, August 2007.
